Pulplife - An underwater adventure for the ZX Spectrum 128k by Jhonnystorm

Chikubi Ninja wasn't the only decent game to see a release over the weekend, as I've also been told to let you all know about Jhonnystorm's new game for the ZX Spectrum called 'Pulplife'. An underwater adventure, whereby you play as a little octopus on his journey to find and rescue all his little siblings before they are devoured by the numerous predators in the vast ocean. It's nearly the end of 2025 and with the competition still ongoing, we've been informed that Imanok has entered a rather decent action platformer for the MSX 2 called 'Chikubi Jinja'. A game that the MSXDev page says "it comes with a groovy PSG soundtrack, where sharp reflexes and quick decisions are key to defeating every opponent." TT-64 & Super VIC TT - A Super Hang-On like arcade racer for the Commodore 64 by AJ Layden [Commodore VIC 20 (+32K exp) Update]

We've recently been informed via Saberman, that you can now download the latest Super Hang-On like racing game for the Commodore 64 called 'TT-64'. A game that is getting positive feedback such as "It's like Turbo and Outrun had a child and that child is amazing!!! I can't believe how well this actually plays as a game" - CoffeeCupArcade. Wheelchair Gladiators Championship Edition - A follow up to the Amiga classic enhanced for AGA! [XMAS UPDATE]

Growing up I used to collect a lot of Amiga PD games, especially as dad took me to boot fairs and markets and was happy to scan through the latest catalogue of PD games. Well one such PD game that has made an appearance for the Amiga, albeit enhanced, is Wheelchair Gladiators Championship Edition. The long awaited AGA follow up to the Amiga original from 1994. It's faster, has more weapons, special moves, hats and more inclusive. To coincide with this news, provided below is the latest details and trailer from the developer known as Hambo3.

Tetris Championship Edition - A brilliant MOD of the classic Tetris 2 on the ZX Spectrum [UPDATE]


Oh joy of joys, if you loved the 1984 game of Tetris or the 1989 game of Columns , you'll be pleased to know a brand new puzzle overhaul of Tetris 2 by František Fuka has been released for the ZX Spectrum. This excellent game that was originally released for the ZX Spectrum in 1990,  has not only been made more suitable for modern players who already played NES Tetris, Tetris 99 etc, but it features a new scoring system, new colours and much much more.

Phoenix - 1980's Arcade game by Taito for the Amiga via JOTD gets a new update

As we said before, JOTD has created some amazing conversions/ports over the years. Games such as Moon Patrol, Donkey Kong, Tetris 1200 (AGA), Super Bagman, Galaxian500 and our personal favorite Super Xevious. Well if you've been following all of our updates of JOTD's latest Arcade to Amiga conversion of Phoenix. A 1980's Arcade fixed-screen shooter by Taito, with a later release in 1983 for the Atari 2600. Then as of today you play the latest version via the link below. 

World of Spells - This first person action game for the 48k ZX Spectrum looks impressive [Santa Claus Update]

Another ZX Spectrum game worth checking out is the recent release of Jtpl's fast-paced first-person action game for the classic ZX Spectrum 48K called 'World of Spells'. A game that the creator says "you can watch in amazement as our silly rubber wonder pumps out a Wolfenstein 3D-like, full 360 freedom of movement action, with >50 frames per bleeding’ second. It simply has to be seen to be believed" To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a video showing it being played via 48k emulation.

Sabre Wulf - Is still getting a C64 remaster, and it looks awesome! [UPDATE]

Earlier today we found out that ' Sabre Wulf ' is still coming to the C64 as a full remaster by Genesis Project. Yes indeed this famous game released in 1984 by Ultimate Play the Game, and originally released on the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, C64 and Amstrad CPC, will soon be making its home yet again on the C64 but this time with incredible remastered graphics such as in game and a fancy loader. To coincide with this news, we've got some footage of the game below.

Halo Zero (Unofficial remake - Amiga/MD/NeoGeoCD) by Earok gets a preview build!

Here's another banger of a news story especially if you were a fan of the Halo games, as thanks to a heads up by Earok, developer of the Scorpion Engine, he has announced a preview download of 'Halo Zero'. An unofficial fan port of a classic fan game, which in turn was inspired by the series created by Bungie. In light of this news which was a bit of a surprise considering that I'm slowly finishing this bottle of bubbly ;), provided below is some screenshots and a video soon from Saberman.

Sonic The Hedgehog looks impressive on the Amiga as a tech demo by RetroRic

Well this is a bit of a shocker and one I didn't think I'd be writing up on Christmas Eve. As that legendary game character Sonic from the Sonic the Hedgehog, which appeared on multiple systems, has appeared as a pretty impressive tech demo by RetroRic for the Commodore Amiga. An almost complete level 1 of Mega Drive Sonic the Hedgehog, in both 32 colour and 16 colour versions requiring any Amiga  with 2 MB chipram! To find out more read on :)

Do we have some great retro gaming news for you, as that legendary game character Sonic from the Sonic the Hedgehog game series, which appeared on multiple systems such as the Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive, and Sega Game Gear. Will be coming to the Commodore Amiga 500 1mb, and Commodore Amiga 1200 with the hard work of Reassembler , the same creator who released the vastly superior version of the OutRun Amiga Edition. A Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year from Indie Retro News

Here we are again with another Christmas and what a year it has been, full of incredible retro games such as the silky-smooth arcade racing overhaul of Outrun for the Amiga, the vastly superior version of Green Beret for the Commodore Plus/4, to Griffonsoft's amazing platformer on the Commodore 64, and the many Arcade ports done by JOTD for the Commodore Amiga.  I mean seriously I could be here all day listing the greatness that has appeared throughout 2025 that has blown us all away.

Dasher - A family friendly festive game for the Amiga by Camden Town Games.

It's the most wonderful tiiiiiiiiiimee...of the year, and what better way to celebrate it than with a very family friendly game from Camden Town Games called 'Dasher'. A game whereby you play as Dasher, and must collect presents while avoiding obstacles and other Reindeer. Seriously if you have very young kids in the family then this game by Camden will be perfect for them. In light of this rather festive game, Saberman has done a gameplay video.

El Chef - A delirious C64 platformer with an upbeat soundtrack!

Quarx - A new Match 'em up teased for the Commodore 64 by David Murray and team

A new game has surfaced for the Commodore 64, as we have just found out thanks to a heads up by a good friend of ours, that the8bitguy, who is behind games such as Planet X16 and Petscii Robots, is currently working on a game with Piotr Radecki and Moelle Aman called 'Quarx'. A high quality Match 'em up, whereby you need to move pieces falling from the top to form complete horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines for a high score. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided some footage of this game that's currently still being worked on.

Moonstone - Preview of an Amiga hack and slasher classic for the Amstrad CPC!

If you've got an Amiga or an Amstrad CPC or just remember playing both of these systems growing up, then this piece of news is sure to blow your mind! As the 1991 Amiga Mindscape classic ' Moonstone : A Hard Days Knight ' has been teased on the Amstrad CPC as a preview. Titled as just ' Moonstone ' and made available by Jean-Marie, this is a very early dev port of the most incredible and gorish Amiga hack and slasher/beat em up game of its time.

CityCat Prowl - This teased cat project for C64 and PC by Polytricity, is looking rather decent! [V0.12 UPDATE]

What do you get if you mix up the isometric style of The Last Ninja and blend it altogether with a bit of cat complexities? Probably this game! A new Commodore 64 project by Polytricity called 'CityCat Prowl'. This game, created by Robert Ramsay, will have you not only playing as a friendly feline, but you'll also be prowling through dynamic environments both above and below ground, while also completing tasks and interacting with other characters. So yes, this is one game that, if it does gets finished, may well be a big hit with the C64 community.

Invanoid - An Arkanoid and Space Invaders mix for the Commodore Amiga by DjPiotrs

What do you get if you mix the 1986 Arcade game of 'Arkanoid' and the 1987 game of 'Space Invaders'? Probably this latest game from djpiotrs called 'Invanoid'; a brand new Amiga game in which playing as a bat like device scrolling from side to side at the bottom of the screen, you must bounce an orb back and forth while destroying waves of enemy ships that slowly traverse towards you. Attack of the Killer Asteroids - A sci-fi Pang clone for the Amiga by Camden Town Games (DEMO)

Camden Town Games is back in the news, as after previously teasing the Pac-Man like game called Cat and Mouse, they've now released a new Commodore Amiga demo called 'Attack of the Killer Asteriods '. A sci-fi Pang clone whereby you need to wipe out a number of asteroids to move on to the next level while also hoping to take out the UFO for an extra life. In light of this news, Saberman has provided another gameplay video.

The House of the Dead Bunnies - An on-rails shooter game for the Amiga by RobSmithDev and team

RobSmithDev seems to have a thing for bunnies, especially with his other games he's released for the amiga such as Hop to the Top, and Bunny's Boing Ball Bounty. Well here we are with another bunny game from this developer, as he has released the on-rails shooter called 'The House of The Dead Bunnies'. A game in which he states is "Probably the only Amiga LightGun game worth playing!". To coincide with this news, provided below is the latest footage from the game by Saberman.

Stunt Car Racer Remake - Fan based PC remake in the works of one of Geoff Crammonds finest games

Stunt Car Racer was one of the best stunt style racers for the Amiga, and one of Geoff Crammonds finest games. Yet what made it so good was not just the feeling of speed, but the thrill of accelerating into the sky and coming back down with an almighty crack, especially if you ended up missing the track altogether such as on the Ski Jump. So you can probably see why I'm just that little bit excited, as a fan by the name of omenoid and ptitSeb, has released a new PC remake of the game. A new version that was originally sourced from D. Vernon and A. Copland's version released back in 2019

Egg Feud - A charming platformer from Donut80 for the C64

Fancy playing a charming little platformer that's fun for all ages, then it might be worth downloading Donut80's new game for the Commodore 64 called 'Egg Fued'. A Jumpman Junior, Bounty Bob Strikes Back, and Lode Runner inspired game, whereby you need to collect all the eggs while avoiding the nasty foxes. To coincide with this news, the developer has posted about the game from our Facebook group, and Saberman has provided a gameplay video.

Cat and Mouse - A Pac-Man like game demo'd for the Amiga

Throughout this year Camden Town Games has either released or teased a number of games for the Amiga, games such as Dylan the Spaceman, Submarine Attack, and Tank Attack. Well here we are with another teased game, as the developer has made available a work in progress demo for the upcoming Scorpion Engine developed game called 'Cat and Mouse'. A Pac-Man like game whereby you need to collect all the cheese while avoiding the cats. In light of this news, Saberman has provided some gameplay footage.

The Cthulhu Project - An upcoming Dungeon Crawler for the Amiga by Captain DarkN3m0 gets new footage

Something slightly different for todays retro heads up, as if you are a huge fan of Dungeon Crawlers, especially games such as Eye of the Beholder or Lands of Lore. Then you may be interested to know that Captain DarkN3m0 is still working on a new Dungeon Crawler for the Amiga called 'The Cthulhu Project'; A horror like RPG which the creator says "is being developed using AMOS PRO as a 3D old school Dungeon Master like game". To coincide with this news, a new video has been posted which demonstrates the updated assets and code.

Three Weeks In Paradise - 8bit classic gets an MSX port by fregarni

Mutant Monty, Street Fighter II and Hyper Sports weren't the only games to see ports to different computers this week, as I've been informed through Facebook that Fregarni has ported the 8bit classic of 'Three Weeks in Paradise' over to the MSX. A port of the classic Spectrum and Amstrad CPC title that shockingly wasn't released for MSX back in the day. To coincide with this news, provided below is the latest footage and game info from the MSXDev25 competition page.

Mad Santa - A Christmas themed action game from Zooperdan for the Amiga AGA.

Throughout this year our good friend Zooperdan has been creating lots of Puzzle games for the Amiga. Games such as Blok, WordZ and YEET. Well after constantly badgering him to do something different ( I'm just not a puzzle fan :p ), he's now released a Christmas themed arcade shooter called 'Mad Santa'. A Scorpion Engine developed game, that was made in 4 days so it can be added to Amiga Cammy's Christmas Tree (list of Christmas related games for Amiga).

Mutant Monty - A remake of a C64/CPC/ZX Spectrum classic for the Amiga

Here on Indie Retro News, we love a good retro conversion or remake, and Mutant Monty, developed by Stephen Ancell is as retro as you can get! This is a faithful Amiga conversion of the Amstrad CPC, C64 and ZX Spectrum 1980's classic Mutant Monty by Artic in all its pretty psychedelic coloured goodness. The aim of this game is to collect all the gems and reach the exit on each of the games levels. Also make sure to rescue the damsel if you make it to level 40.

BioMenace Remastered - A remaster of Apogee Software's action platformer is coming 18th December via Rigel Gameworks!

Apogee Software released some great games in the 90's, games such as Monster Bash, Bio Menace and even our personal favorite Duke Nukem. Well one game that's going to get the remaster treatment, and a game that many of us still remember to this day, is the 90's game of 'BioMenace'. Yes indeed for those who loved playing this game back in the 90's, will pleased to know that Rigel Gameworks, a small independent game development team, will be bringing to GOG & Steam 'BioMenace Remastered' as of December 18, 2025; an enhanced modern re-release of the 1993 DOS game BioMenace.

Classic arcade game 'Street Fighter II' has appeared on the Atari XL/XE!

Throughout this year IndieRetroNews Youtubber Saberman has been keeping you up to date with the latest developments of the impressive looking homebrew remake of Street Fighter II for the Atari XL/XE. Well this game which originally appeared on the Arcades, and was then ported to pretty much every system you could think of, has finally been converted over to the Atari XL/XE thanks to Krzysztof "Vega" Góra, Sim, Gaspar, Miker and GienekP.

Christmas Me Out - A special XMAS demo for the Commodore Amiga by Mixel's Lab

With Christmas just a few weeks away, Mixelslab, who is behind the eagerly awaited Scorpion Engine developed Commodore Amiga game called 'Creeping Me Out : Hex Night. Has released a small festive tease of the game, as a special demo called Christmas Me Out. An arcade platformer now featuring 2 short levels, Anna (not Francis) as the protagonist, one devious boss fight, Ice blocks, ridiculous particle effects and so many penguins.

Hyper Sports - An arcade Olympic themed sports game appears on the Amiga [v0.93 UPDATE]

If you haven't broken your joystick just yet, with this latest release that is very possible! As after releasing the joystick and button bashing game called Track'N'Field, JOTD has now made available another downloadable version of Konami's arcade Olympic themed sports game called 'Hyper Sports'. Puppix - The Cabbage Forest - A charming SEUCK game by Pinov Vox for the C64

I haven't featured a SEUCK Competition entry for some time, so to change all that here's a new game released for the Commodore 64, it's Puppix - The Cabbage Forest by Pinov Vox, Fabs, and Richard Bayliss, A Halloween themed action game created using the Sideways Scrolling SEUCK Left 2008 version. Leisure Suit Larry WIC64MEX demo - This demo focuses on showcasing a new WiC64 feature called WiC64mex.

The 1987 hit adventure game of Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards by Sierra, has been used as a showcast for a new WiC64 feature for the Commodore 64 called WiC64mex. Which enables games to trigger music, speech and sound effects over the internet via the WiC64 hardware. Do be aware however, even though this is pretty impressive, it's still only a showcast by RetroBytes. Larry: In the Land of the Lounge Lizards which is in development for the C64 by the same creator is still a long way to go before completition.

Exolon - The Continuing Adventures - A retro gaming classic by Hewson gets an unofficial PC sequel!

In 1987 Hewson released ' Exolon ' for the ZX Spectrum, C64 and Amstrad CPC, with a later conversion to the Enterprise 128, Amiga and Atari ST. In the game, you played as a sci-fi soldier across multiple screens blasting away enemies and defending yourself against gun defences as well as homing missiles. Well if you remember this fine game then make sure to check out Space-Time Games latest release called 'Exolon - The Continuing Adventures'; a retro gaming classic by Hewson that has received an unofficial sequel!

The Snowman - A PC remake of the 1980's game by Quicksilva from Langford Productions

If you're feeling festive and want to play some Christmas games then come and check out the newest of releases from Langford Productions called 'The Snowman'. ​A PC remake of the 1980's game by Quicksilva based on the book by Raymond Briggs and probably the cartoon on which Aled Jones sung. Sherwood (C64 Collector’s Edition) – Another fantastic C64 game from MUSKETEER creators 'Griffonsoft' [XMAS UPDATE]

Well this is brilliant news and one I didn't think would happen so soon after the recent release of MUSKETEER. As the team behind that game who we know as Griffonsoft, has now made available another game for your Commodore 64 called 'Sherwood (C64 Collector’s Edition)'. A game whereby you play as the legendary Robin Hood, and must fight with bow and arrow after being exposed at an archery contest. Oh Mummy - One of the best Amstrad games, remade for the C64

I've just had some fantastic news in my inbox, as that all time classic Amstrad game called ' Oh Mummy ' from 1984, has been remade by Blazon for the Commodore 64. A game originally developed by Gem Software and published by Amsoft. Oh Mummy was one of the best games from my childhood, it had fun gameplay revealing lost Egyptian treasures, deadly mummies that needed to be avoided, and a soundtrack that has lasted the ages!

Moon Patrol 500 - 1980's Arcade classic as an Amiga conversion by JOTD gets a new build!

I've recently found out from Saberman, that the Arcade to Amiga conversion of Irem's classic 1982 scrolling shooter of 'Moon Patrol' by both JOTD and no9(music), has now been updated with a new AGA enhanced, ECS and OCS build for you to try! Basically for those of you who were complaining about games created with just AGA in mind, you can now try lower end builds of the game all created as a transcode of Moon Patrol arcade using assembler. 

Hyper Wings - Geldo79 announces the final version of this fast based Amiga space shooter! [UPDATE]

The last news story from me unless something major comes out, as the previously announced Amiga shooter of 'Hyper Wings' by Geldo79, has hit the big 2.50 with a number of improvements!  An Asteroids and Star Control mash up which was developed in ASM. To coincide with this news, while we did feature the game before, you can at least check out the full up to date details, as well as a gameplay video posted below.

Reginald and the She Vampires - Amstrad CPC Remake/reboot of Mr Weems and the She Vampires!

If you remember playing the 1987 game called Mr Weems and the She Vampires by RamJam Corporation, a game that was loosely based upon the 1985 Atari Games arcade title Gauntlet. Then come and check out typhonsoft's new game called Reginald and the She Vampires. An Amstrad CPC Remake/reboot of, and sequel to that 1987 game. FloppyVerse - A challenging Puzzle game released for the ZX Spectrum 128k by JuanGM

A challenging yet high quality game has made appearance for the ZX Spectrum 128k called 'FloppyVerse' by JuanGM. A game in which you need to not only transfer recovered floppy disks spread throughout many different levels to your spaceship, but you have a limited amount of moves to do this, while also avoiding enemies within the allotted time. Phantasy Star 2 - Marco Ughetta is aiming to port this Sega Mega Drive RPG over to the Amiga [UPDATE]

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Sega Mega Drive, especially with my ever growing collection of great games, such as FINK, Golden Axe, Mickey Mania and my personal favorite Comix Zone. So to find out that Marco Ughetta was aiming to port the Sega Mega Drive game of 'Phantasy Star II' over to the Commodore Amiga, this certainly caught my interest. Sure, it's still in an early stage of development, and at one point I wasn't sure if it was going to go any further at all, but we are pleased to show you the latest demo footage.

Stab'N Dash - The Commodore Plus/4 gets another fantastic version of Green Beret

No sooner had I featured the hot news story of Sonic the Hedgehog coming to the Amiga 500 and Amiga 1200 than I found out through Facebook that Csabo, KiCHY, and The Sarge has released Stab'N Dash for the Commodore Plus/4. Lunadia - A single screen arcade game for the C64 by Commodore Spain

While new game announcements have been in short supply these last couple of days from myself (blame ill health), I wanted to at least mention this new single screen arcade game for the C64 by Commodore Spain called 'Lunadia'. A game whereby you must avoid falling asteroids while trying to recover broken pieces of the lunar research before time runs out. If that sounds like your sort of game that was created with Garry Kitchen's GameMaker (published by Activision in 1985), then make sure to check it out below the latest footage.
