For the last couple of weeks I've been playing with an early version of TinyPi Pro. A fully fledged Raspberry Pi zero based gaming handheld not much bigger than a couple of boxes of matches. It's the smallest raspberry pi gaming device possible with the casing barely bigger than the Pi Zero footprint itself. It's listed by its creator over on kickstarter, but can such a tiny device be a capable retro gaming device?

Crash Bandicoot - N. Sane Trilogy (Vicarious Visions Game, PS4, 2017) - Reviewed by AlanG

There is a general rule in life; you don’t mess with a classic. You are almost certainly setting yourself up to fail. Volkswagon tried with the re-launch of the ‘Mini’ and while the German version of the British classic car may be a solid vehicle and has racked up good sales, true fans of the original will say that the new car has none of the character that made it’s predecessor so revered. In recent years we have seen modern remakes of classic BBC comedies: ‘Yes Minister’ and ‘Porridge’. ‘Yes Minister’, despite being penned by the same writing team was an abhorrent mess, a complete insult to the class and quality that oozed from the original, and ‘Porridge’ (again from the pen of the original writers) while not quite as deeply unpleasant was still extremely forgettable. In a nutshell, if something has already been nailed, there is little point in trying to improve it.

OCTUKITTY - UltraNarwhal's ZX Spectrum release which was released just moments ago!

All Terrain Racing - A very festive Christmas Edition Mod (Amiga)

One of the most enjoyable racing games on the Amiga other than games such as Super Cars or Nitro was in fact the 1990's Team 17 game of ' All Terrain Racing '; A game many would say has not just good graphics and sound, but features lots of addictive gameplay with 3 cars to choose from and 42 well designed tracks. Well if you remember this enjoyable game, you'll be happy to know acd2001 has released the Christmas Edition Mod for the game featuring Christmas graphics from demo's alpine track.

Tank Blasta - SEUCK C64 game featuring music by Richard Bayliss

Zool: Ninja of the Nth Dimension (Amiga Game, Gremlin Graphics, 1992)

There is a reason why cat videos are so popular on the internet. Barely a day goes by without someone sharing a video of some kittens falling into a waste paper basket or a blender on my Facebook newsfeed (I may have lied about the blender). It is the same reason in part why Mario and Sonic are so popular. They are cute. You warm to them. You want to protect them. And they are one of life’s underdogs (no pun intended!). Mario, for example, is a bit un-athletic and wears overalls and had a funny accent. Sonic on the other hand has an amusing animation that sees him roll into a ball and tear along at the speed of sound, most un-hedgehog like. Both make you smile and want to look after them.  It would be churlish of me to not mention the unparalleled gameplay, fabulous learning curve and exquisite level design in each that adds to the experience, but it is undoubtedly the character of the games and in particular the main participants that makes you chuckle and that, in turn, makes them fun.
